FROGGER —
The Frogger phenomenon began in 1981 when players guided their frogs across busy roads and hazardous rivers to bring each frog home. Hopping to safety on the back of turtles or across lily pads, the frogs catch bugs or escort a lady bug for bonus points. However, each frog must steer clear of vehicles when crossing the busy roads, and snakes, alligators and otters when navigating the river. In addition to hazards, each level is timed so players must be swift and sure to win this game. Frogger is fun for the whole family.and has been for years!
CONTRA —
Bursting into arcades in 1987 Contra quickly became popular for its simultaneous 2-player mode. Contra attracted many new players to arcades where they control their soldiers and battle through waves of enemies and obstacles. Using machine guns, lasers and other ordinance, the commandos set out to defeat the Red Falcon organization and their plans for “world domination.”
GYRUSS —
In 1983 Gyruss made its debut in arcades around the world. Resembling other popular games of the era, Gyruss offered players one big difference: a forced 3D perspective. The player’s ship faces into the screen and is able to move around the perimeter. Scrolling games had to stop and take notice as Gyruss, this game’s spaceship, moved through space at warp speed! It’s the player’s mission to destroy all types of enemies and complete many levels to win this game.
