Seahawk Quarterback and Cowboy Linebacker Join GLOBAL VR® Operators and Players at Madden Season 2 Launch

Former Pro-players Brock Huard and Dat Nguyen join in Madden Season 2 launch festivities

August 15 & 17, 2006, Seattle, Washington & Dallas, Texas --- This past week, GLOBAL VR took its Madden Season 2 launch events to both Seattle and Dallas where football is not just a pastime but a passion.  It is interesting to note about the Seahawks that tragedy struck the new franchise before they even play their first game when Lloyd W. Nordstrom, the expansion team's owner, died from a heart attack while vacationing in Mexico. Nordstrom had been instrumental in landing an NFL team in the Pacific Northwest but he never had a chance to see the team take the field.  Finally, in 2005, the Seahawks found themselves on the field having fulfilled Nordstrom’s dream when his Seahawks faced the Steelers in Super Bowl XL.

In Seattle, the Gameworks location hosted the GLOBAL VR event where the area’s local operator distributors turned out enmass to enjoy the event and learn more about the new product.  The location drew a large crowd of distributors, operators and players.  Jim DeRose’s presentation was enthusiastically received by everyone including Brock Huard, former Seahawk QB and University of Washing all time leading passer.  Brock shared that the presentation and product were outstanding and that the coin-op industry has a lot to look forward to.  “Jim’s presentation was terrific!  He made it very clear that GLOBAL VR has done its homework.  I’m not familiar with the mechanics of the coin-op industry, but I can honestly say that I am excited about the company and the game.”  The drawing for a Madden Update Kit was held and the winner was Mr. Marv Galante of ASI/Music-Vend in Seattle.  After the event the GLOBAL VR team packed up and moved on to Dallas, Texas.

It is little remembered in the world of football that in the initial months following Dallas’s formation (1960), the team was known as the “Steers.” And after a few weeks the name was changed to “Rangers.” At the same time, a baseball team operated in Dallas under that name, but was scheduled to fold before the 1960 football season. However, when the baseball team decided to play one more season the owners of the new NFL team selected the name of Cowboys to avoid confusion. Now the Dallas Cowboys are affectionately known as “America’s Team”. Love’em or hate’em, the Cowboys have one of the most illustrious records in all of football. And on Thursday, in Dallas at Carson’s Live, it was obvious that the crowd LOVED’EM.

The presentation kicked off the event at 4:00, and promptly at 5:00 pm Mr. Dat Nguyen appeared.  One of the franchise’s most beloved players, Dat was one of the game’s first Vietnamese-American players to achieve NFL fame.  As a 5’ 11” linebacker his work was cut out for him. After several serious injuries he decided that 2005 would be his last professional season but sees that there is a bright future for Madden Season 2.  . “This game is so easy to enjoy.  I can’t believe that I’m able to play this well so quickly,” Dat commented several times during the event.  He went on to share, “I’ve played the Madden console game but this is a brand new experience and I love it.”  The sentiment was shared by the events attendees who were able to each try their hand at the game and participate in the evening tournament. In fact, so many players signed up to play that the event organizers put together a second tournament that evening so that all could compete.  True to form, GLOBAL VR held a drawing for a Madden Update Kit, which was won by Mr. Ernie Barbario of Barberio Music.  Autographed Cowboy jerseys, hats, t-shirts and GLOBAL VR playbooks were also raffled to guests.

Madden Season 2!

Next week, the Madden Launch Tour moves to Chicago and Charlotte.  In Chicago, attendees will get to meet former Chicago Bear Great “Dan Hampton”.  And in Charlotte, none other than the 5 time pro bowl player Wesley Walls will challenge the crowd.  Originally, Mike Fields was scheduled to attend the Charlotte event. However health considerations forced him to cancel his appearance.  We all wish him well.  For more information on upcoming events please visit
