December 2, 2002 -- San Jose, CA -- On November 15th, GLOBAL VR, the industry leader in breakthrough coin-operated video game products, began shipping the most recent software updates for their latest hit game, EA SPORTS™ PGA TOUR® GOLF. This software release, known as version 1.1, should be available from distribution by the time you read this and adds several important new elements to the game including:

New game play mode: Shootout! - This new mode of play is designed for 3 to 8 players. Each hole is an "elimination hole" meaning that the player with the highest score (i.e. the "worst" score) gets eliminated and the remaining players progress to the next hole. This is repeated until there is just one player left, that player being the winner of that Shootout! match. This easy-to-manage contest system is sure to become a fast favorite for operators and their locations that enjoy running local competitive events.

General game play speed increases - The transition times between game screens have been reduced. The ability to hit the "Shot Type" button and speed through the player reaction and ball flight trajectory animations has also been retained from the previous release. Overall, the game plays significantly faster with the version 1.1 software release.

GLOBAL VR's first fantasy course, Timber Hills - If early player reactions are any indication, this course is sure to get lots of play. This lushly forested Northwest style course combines challenging fairways with imposing water hazards and impossibly small greens. A recipe sure to get the avid video golfer excited!

Improvements in trackball sensitivity and reliability - Players will notice both an improvement in their ability to use a soft touch (making for a game that rewards more for finesse) as well as improvements in accurately reading and responding to those hard hit "hammer" shots (a favorite staple that the hardcore have been known to use).

Player selectable difficulty levels - This new feature permits players to adjust the difficulty levels (of non-tournament games) in order to best match their skill set. At the screen requesting the coin insertion, use the "Shot Type" button to bring up the difficulty options. Next, cycle through the difficulty settings using the trackball. When the desired difficulty level is displayed on screen, insert the appropriate coins and start your game. The available difficulty settings include Very Easy, Easy, Normal, and Hard, and Very Hard.

The version 1.1 software updates have been shipping to GLOBAL VR's distribution partners for immediate release to customers and should be readily available by press time.
