GLOBAL VR SIGNS EXCLUSIVE DISTRIBUTION DEAL WITH MAYGAY GAMES MAYGAY TO BECOME EXCLUSIVE MANUFACTURER AND DISTRIBUTOR FOR TIGER WOODS ARCADE IN EUROPE
September 1, 2001 -- San Jose, CA -- Global VR announced today that it has executed a letter of intent with British company Maygay Games, Ltd., to manufacture and distribute a new arcade game based on EA SPORTS Tiger Woods PGA Tour video game. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
"We searched the European continent for the best potential partner to help us accelerate our market penetration in Europe," said Global VR President Milind Bharvirkar said. "With their market leadership position in manufacturing and distributing pub games in Europe, we feel that Maygay is an ideal partner for Global VR. The fact that they are owned by Leisure Link, the largest operator of coin-operated games in the U.K., is an added benefit. We feel this deal assures a successful European product launch at the upcoming ATEI show in London this coming January."
Maygay Machines is one of Europe's premier creators and manufacturers of coin-operated amusement and gaming machines. Founded in 1965, Maygay Machines is based in Wolverhampton, England, in the heart of the United Kingdom. The company is now a subsidiary of the Leisure Link Group, the UK's largest Machine Management Company, which operates more than 89,000 machines throughout the UK.
GLOBAL VR is the leading manufacturers of virtual reality arcade games. The company's VR Vortek is the world's first walk-up, coin-operated virtual reality system. GLOBAL VR recently announced a four year deal with Electronic Arts to develop a series of games based on EA SPORTS Tiger Woods PGA Tour and will begin production of two new football simulators, Red Zone Offense and Split the Uprights. Based on a patented motion sensor technology, players use a real football to either throw touchdowns or kick field goals in a virtual football stadium.
