DISNEY PURCHASES NEW GLOBAL VR FOOTBALL SIMULATORS DISNEYQUEST AND ESPNZONE WILL BE FIRST TO SHOWCASE RED ZONE OFFENSE AND SPLIT THE UPRIGHTS
May 16, 2001 -- San Jose, CA -- GLOBAL VR announced today that Disney has purchased its first Split the Uprights and Red Zone Offense football simulators. GLOBAL VR first showed the new products at the Amusement Showcase International show in Las Vegas this past February. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
GLOBAL VR's President, Milind Bharvirkar said, "The reaction we received at the ASI show last quarter to our new products was unbelievable. We knew we had a hit on our hands. This order from Disney just confirms what we have always believed. People love sports games, and ours are the most realistic sports simulators on the market."
Bharvirkar added, "Red Zone Offense is the first entirely new game to come out of our acquisition of Interactive Light. Split the Uprights, while containing entirely new software, is based upon the same hardware platform as Kick-it! which sold over 2800 units worldwide. So you can see why we have strong expectations for the amount of volume these two new games will generate for us."
GLOBAL VR is one of the leading manufacturers of the virtual reality arcade games. The company's VR Vortek is the world's first walkup, coin-operated virtual reality system. Utilizing a PC platform, with a boom-mounted display, the VR Vortek offers location owners the benefit of infinitely interchangeable titles in a non-attended simulator. Offered in the VR Vortek Deluxe, Standard and 3D cabinets, it offers players a truly immersive, 3-D experience with force-feedback. It is now available with three different software titles: Heavy Gear II, SIN and Beachhead 2000.
GLOBAL VR also recently unveiled two new football simulators, Red Zone Offense and Split the Uprights. Based upon its proprietary motion sensor technology, players use a real football to either throw touchdowns or kick field goals in a virtual football stadium.
