Classic Games Casts Its Coin For Children's Miracle Network

April 26, 2004---San Jose, CA Charles Romero of Classic Games was the high bidder on a GLOBAL VR™ sponsored EA SPORTS™ PGA TOURŪ GOLF Conversion Kit, auctioned at the 2004 American Amusement Machine Charitable Foundation (AAMCF) Silent Auction. The auction took place at this year's annual Amusement Showcase International (ASI) tradeshow in Las Vegas, Nevada.

All proceeds from the event went to the Children's Miracle Network (CMN), whose hallmark is that 100 percent of every dollar raised in a community remains there to help children who are served by participating hospitals in that local area. Children's Miracle Network hospitals treat all children regardless of affliction or ability to pay.

Each year, Children's Miracle Network hospitals provide more than $2.5 billion in charitable care. The non-profit children's hospitals depend upon community support like that of Charles Romero, who displays thoughtful dedication towards patronizing the organization. Romero conducted two fundraisers last year through his locations to benefit CMN. "Last year, we contributed millions of dollars; we support them as often as possible," expressed Romero. Since 1983, the Children's Miracle Network has raised almost $1.8 billion for children's hospitals-most of which is donated a dollar at a time by individuals throughout the US and Canada.

In addition to a desire to continue his support of an, undeniably, worthy cause, Romero admits to also having other reasons for deciding to bid on the EA SPORTS™ PGA TOURŪ GOLF Conversion Kit. "I am personally addicted to the golf game," laughed Romero. "I probably play it more than anybody," he joked in reference to a game at Chilacas Restaurant, which is one of his locations.

By auction's end, Romero's bid had reached $1750 for the kit, which was valued at $2900. Romero has already used the kit to convert an old cabinet and plans to conduct tournaments with the PGA TOURŪ GOLF game. Who knows? Maybe Romero will decide to sponsor a golf tournament as a Children's Miracle Network charity event.
