Illinois State Video Golf Tournament Winners Announced

April 22, 2004---San Jose, CA In a sweeping victory, Schererville, Indiana native, Jason Todd, captured first place honors at both, Saturday and Sunday open tournament events hosted by the Illinois Coin Machine Operators Association (ICMOA). In conjunction with the annual ICMOA pool and dart state finals, GLOBAL VR™ sponsored the Illinois State Golf Tournament held April 2-4 at Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield, Illinois.

On Saturday, the host video game, EA SPORTS™ PGA GOLF® TOUR Championship edition II, featured three 18-hole courses: The Sahalee Country Club (which means "High Heavenly Ground"), surrounded by tall, majestic Cedar and Douglas Fir; ScottsdaleT, which is set in the Sonoran Desert and surrounded by the McDowell Mountains; and St. AndrewsT, which is renowned the world over as the "Home of Golf".

The tournament took place between 11am-6pm with a total of $2,000 in prized monies being paid out to 20 places. Top cash-prize winners were as follows: In 3rd place, Marion, IL video golfer, Dan Reid took home $200; in 2nd place, earning $225, was Lance Bertram of Palatine, IL; in 1st place was Jason Todd, carrying away $250 in prize winnings

GLOBAL VR tournament representative, Cortney Black, was on-sight to observe the action up close at the event. "The guys had a great time. We also had a few pool and dart players try the game that had never played before," reported Black.

Featuring five18-hole courses instead of three, Sunday's open tournament event paid out a sum of $1,000. Top winners included, in 2nd place, Scott Leaver of Champaign, IL earning $175, and Jason Todd, again, in 1st place, scoring another $200 in cash.

ICMOA Executive Director, Adonna Jerman was pleased with the results. "GLOBAL VR helped to make our annual tournament a complete experience for the players. Phone calls and emails to the ICMOA office in the weeks preceding the tournament suggest that Illinois is definitely a golf state. We appreciate GLOBAL VR's continued support," shared Jerman.
